    Sculptural version of the Roman figure 'Augusto', this sculpture was found in 1911, at the Teatro Romano de Mérida. The original dates from the 1st century and is currently in the National Museum of Roman Art. It is a portrait of the founder of  Emerita Augusta, Octavio Augusto, at a relatively young age. The expression is serene, with a quiet and noble look. The head is straight, with a wide brow, strong jaws and wide cheekbones. The material used in the sculpture is bronze and the technique used is sculptural modeling and lost-wax casting.
