Sculptural version of a 'Lamp'. This object was found in the Citadel, Merida. The original dates from the Caliphate period, in the 10th century and is in the National Museum of Roman Art in Mérida.
The lamp was used as an oil lamp to illuminate the rooms of a house. It consists of an elongated spout, oil reservoir, a small opening and a small handle.
The material used in the sculpture is bronze and the technique is sculptural modeling and lost-wax casting.
